2021 Scottish Parliament Elections
I have now announced my intention to stand again in the 2021 Scottish Parliament election.
With many of my colleagues who have been in Parliament since 1999 standing down, after much consideration I decided to seek re-election. This is a crucial election for the cause of Independence and we will need experienced MSPs to reach that goal.
I have 21 years of serving as an MSP and I consider that will be needed in the years to come. I am particularly concerned that the residents of the constituency will need the support of a experienced MSP during the trying times of this pandemic. The "Coronavirus" tab above contains links to the latest information and many help lines, please look at it and follow all guidelines to protect our community.
For these reasons I am therefore offering myself once more as a candidate for the constituency of Midlothian South Tweeddale & Lauderdale.
Christine Grahame entered Parliament as a list MSP for the South of Scotland in 1999 having contested the constituency seat of Tweeddale Ettrick & Lauderdale taking the SNP into second place. She contested the seat again in 2003 and 2007 both times coming within 1000 votes of defeating the Liberal Democrats.
In 2011 she won the seat of Midlothian South Tweeddale & Lauderdale and in 2016 she again won the seat increasing the share of the vote to 45%.
